Do you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of Vegas and immerse yourself in nature? Then you shouldn't miss this 11-mile raft trip (no rapids!) down the powerful Colorado River.
While aboard the raft, be sure to keep your eyes wide open so you don't miss the ancient Native American petroglyphs which can be seen along the canyon walls. You might also have the chance to catch a glimpse of the elusive bighorn sheep and popular hot springs.
On the tour you will stop at a beach where you can admire the beauty of the canyon and enjoy a prepared lunch. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the area, as your well-informed guide will give you a brief history and explain how the Colorado River was navigated several hundred years ago. The guide will touch on the early explorers who, lured by the call of gold, arrived from Mexico hoping to find a fortune. The pictures you will take, while not worth their weight in gold, will be stunning.
After lunch and the history lesson, it's off to the Expedition Depot where you will be picked up in specially equipped Hummer Deep Desert Exploration Vehicles (DDEV) that will take you places no other vehicle can. This will be the ride of your life as the Hummer powers through the rugged Frenchmen Mountains, arriving at the major fault line Lizard Eye Ridge. After that adventure, you will return back to Vegas.
Note: This is not a whitewater rafting adventure tour. The raft portion of this tour includes a slow water trip on a pontoon raft.
