Take a peep
By Kristine McKenzie
It’s not her sheep that Bo Peep has lost in Peepshow at Planet Hollywood.
Bo, played by "Girls Next Door" star Holly Madison, has lost her sexy self confidence and only “Peep Diva,” played by Playboy cover model Aubrey O' Day can help her find it.
As the show begins, Bo drifts off to sleep reading a fairy tale and finds herself lost in a dream resembling the stories in her book.
O' Day, acts as the saucy mistress of ceremonies for Peepshow and helps guide Bo on her journey. Along the way they encounter various characters and scenes based on popular children’s fairy tales and nursery rhymes -- but with some very adult twists.
Little Red Riding Hood is clothed in a scant red outfit and shows off some sexy moves. Instead of meeting up with three bears, Goldilocks gets up close and personal with a bearskin rug and the song “Brick House” gets a new interpretation for a Three Little Pigs vignette.
A sketch about Peter Pumpkin Eater features the beautiful cast showing off their moves while pole dancing to the sultry song “Feeling Good,” performed by the show’s male vocalist.
Peepshow is a full-on burlesque-style topless show featuring plenty of shimmying, shaking and sexy striptease performed by a large cast of talented dancers, accompanied by singing and some comedic touches.
The burlesque vibe is enhanced with cabaret-style table seating in front of the stage and around catwalks that jut out into the audience.
The production, developed by Tony award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell and BASE Entertainment, also features lavish sets designed by David Rockwell.
While Peepshow caters mostly to men’s fantasies, there is plenty of eye candy for the ladies too in the form of male dancers and a muscle-bound male aerialist who emerges from a bathtub on stage to dangle, soaking wet, from a rope above.
After watching his enticing routine, Bo finally decides to let loose and join him, finding love and giving this fanciful fairy tale a happy ending.
